Exchange program for Ukrainian journalists 2026
Resilient Voices in Wartime Ukraine
The project empowers vulnerable journalists in Ukraine by fostering resilience, media literacy, and inclusive reporting. Through online training, resilience workshops, and a research trip to Berlin, participants will gain tools to combat disinformation, manage stress, and amplify diverse voices in wartime journalism. By creating safe spaces for collaboration and learning, the project strengthens the capacity of journalists to navigate the challenges of reporting in conflict zones. Ultimately, it aims to enhance the quality of journalism, ensuring that critical information reaches a broad audience despite the war's challenges.
Background
The Russian invasion of Ukraine has deeply impacted society, with marginalized groups facing heightened risks and discrimination. Journalists, especially those from LGBTQ+ and minority communities, continue to report from the frontline, documenting human tragedies under extreme pressure. Many face additional challenges such as online harassment and exposure to hate speech. At the same time, gender and LGBTQ+ issues are often used in Russian disinformation campaigns to divide and discredit Ukraine's democratic progress.
This project aims to support these journalists by providing them with the tools they need to cope with stress, combat disinformation, and report on issues of equality and resilience in inclusive and responsible ways.
